The Jonas Brothers Have Timeless Advice for Their Daughters & It Shows Just How Grounded They Are

Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas are talented musicians by night — and devoted dads by day. The Jonas Brothers are each married with daughters, and although they are only in their 30s, they have timeless advice that parents of any age can pass down to their kids.

In a new interview with PEOPLE as part of their The Children’s Place 2023 Back-to-School campaign, the “Wings” singers shared the heartfelt messages to their little girls.

“Just be yourself,” Nick, 30, who is dad to 17-month-old Malti Marie with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, said. “There’s a lot of factors when it comes to just coming into your own skin and figuring out who you are. And if you just take one step at a time and do your best not to get overwhelmed, I think that that’s the best path forward.”

Aww, that is such great advice!

Kevin, 35, tells his daughters Valentina, 6, and Alena, 9, who he shares with wife Danielle Jonas, to “take it slow and day by day.”

“Try to do your best. That’s all we can ask,” he added. “We don’t ask for perfection, we just ask for them to try. We’re here to support them.”

Joe Jonas, 33, who shares 2-year-old Willa and an 11-month-old baby with wife Sophie Turner, said, “I want them to be themselves. I really don’t need them to think that their dad or their uncles are the coolest in the world. That’s not what it’s all about.”

We love that advice! It’s exactly what we would say to our own kids, and it shows just how down-to-earth the brothers are.

  • Don’t Give Advice

Despite being so great at giving advice to their kids, the brothers are careful to not give advice to each other.

“I think to each his own and more so than ever, we definitely don’t give any advice to each other in regards to parenting,” Kevin told PEOPLE. “That’s a big golden rule that we’ve had, unintentionally, but it’s worked out so far. We’re definitely going to keep it going. I think that’s what is so nice about parenting is you can and no one can tell you differently.”

In an April 2023 interview with SiriusXM, the brothers talked about how they stay out of each other’s parenting lanes.

Kevin said, “We really don’t give each other advice about family. It’s kind of an unspoken rule. We just do our own thing. Do it your way.”

Nick called this “a really healthy thing that we never really spoke about,” adding, “The last thing you want to hear from your siblings is how to parent your child. I think we all sort of understand that and just say, ‘You do your thing. I’m just gonna show up and be Uncle Nick,’ and that’s how it goes.”

  • Keep Things Private

The brothers are very private, with Nick and Chopra Jonas only recently showing their daughter’s face in photos, and Joe and Turner still not revealing the name of their baby.

In the interview with PEOPLE, Nick opened up about protecting their kids’ privacy as much as they can.

“We live pretty public lives and so much of our life is on display and that’s going to be our reality for a while now,” he said. “But we do our best to keep our circle pretty tight and to make sure that we’ve got our private moments and especially with our kids and all that. Because they didn’t sign up for this, it’s just what their parents do.”

Scheduling in private moments with your kids is a solid plan for ayone, even if you aren’t a celebrity. We love seeing the Jonas Brothers make space for their family and give such thoughtful advice to their daughters!
