It's fair to say it has been a successful year for Jennifer Lopez. The multi-hyphenate started off by making history with international superstar Shakira as the first two Latinas to headline the Super Bowl and is ending 2021 with the launch of her skin-care line, JLo Beauty. And on the evening of December 10, Lopez accepted the Icon Award at the 2020 Billboard Women in Music event with a simple '90s-esque hairstyle that's making us majorly nostalgic.
Colombian artist Maluma, who collaborated with Lopez on two singles this year, presented the award virtually to J.Lo, who kept it cute and casual. Lopez's signature honey blonde hair was slicked back into a sleek, low-level bun. A few wisps of hair were pulled out in the front to frame her face, giving the updo a more lived-in look. Both the singer and hairstylist Chris Appleton have looked to the ‘90s for a lot of hair inspiration this year, like the space buns she had in November and the chunky blonde highlights she brought back in March — and we've been keeping all of them in our "Saved" folders as a way to switch up our updos.
To complement the '90s vibes, Lopez's lips were topped with a nude gloss that brought us back to her On the 6 days. Her glam team clearly came ready for this flawless beat. The singer's skin looks radiant with her signature glow-from-within finish. Perhaps it's the work of Iconic London's Illuminator, which makeup artist Mary Phillips used on a previous dewy look for J.Lo. Her lids were shining just as bright with petal pink glitter decorating them, as well as subtle winged liner.
Lopez wasn't the only amazing woman to attend and take home awards at the music event. Teyana Taylor hosted the show and took us through the night introducing the performances, awardees, and presenters. Cardi B gave a beautiful speech after being named the Women of Year; Queen Bey presented duo Chloe x Halle with their Rising Star Award; and everyone's favorite Southern belle, Dolly Parton, sung her heart out to hit "9 to 5". We love seeing these talented and influential women honored for the work and art they gave us in 2020.
