The study noted: “This study investigated the effect of peppermint oil on hair growth in mice.

“The animals were randomized into four groups based on different topical applications: saline (SA), jojoba oil (JO), three percent minoxidil (MXD), and four percent peppermint oil (PEO).

“The hair growth effects of the four-week topical applications were evaluated in terms of hair growth.

“Histological analysis showed that four-week topical application of PEO and MXD induced very thick and long hair growth and promoted the elongation of hair follicles from dermis to subcutis.

“These results indicate that the hair follicles of PEO and MXD groups at week four were in the anagen stage, it was also observed a slight increase of epidermal thickness in PEO group.

The study found that peppermint oil promotes hair growth more effectively than topical applications of saline, jojoba oil, and minoxidil, which is a medication commonly used to treat hair loss.

The researchers also found that peppermint essential oil increased scalp thickness and the number of hair follicles.

They also suggested that peppermint oil may help to promote a more rapid growth stage for hair in the body.

Peppermint oil contains menthol, which causes the blood vessels just under the skin to dilate.

This additional blood flow could help to promote further hair growth.

Peppermint oil contains menthol, which gives peppermint its taste and smell.

Menthol is also responsible for the oil’s many health benefits.

It has a number of skin benefits, but it’s also good for your hair and scalp, according to medical website Healthline.

The menthol in peppermint oil helps to improve blood flow.

A number of conditions that cause loss of hair, including male or female pattern baldness, are caused by hair follicles being starved of blood.

Increasing the circulation to your scalp could stimulate hair growth, it added.

“Some people use peppermint oil as part of their beauty and hair care regimen,” said Healthline.

“There are a few ways you can use peppermint oil on your hair to try to prevent hair loss including rubbing it in the scalp or adding it into shampoos.”
