Smokey Robinson health – the necessary step the singer takes to feel young

Loose Women: Dr Hilary discusses how to live longer

On BBC Two tonight, watch how Smokey Robinson got the crowd going at Hyde Park London.

As the founder and frontman of The Miracles, audiences enjoyed Smokey singing classics such as The Tears Of A Clown, I Second That Emotion, and The Tracks Of My Tears.

The Detroit native told presenter Sam Rubin on KTLA 5 Morning News, back in August 2022, how he keeps so youthful in attitude and appearance.

“I just try to take care of myself,” Smokey said, revealing that he had worked out in the morning before the interview.

“I work out every morning,” he added. “And I know that I have to, to try and keep myself mobile, and to keep myself in shape.”

Smokey said exercising every day is “necessary”, referring to it as his “other job”.

As to what he spends a lot of his time doing, Smokey beamed about his passion for music.

He said: “I tried retiring one time in my life, and it didn’t work for me. I love my job. I really miss it when I’m not doing it.”

The father-to-three pointed out two key aspects of longevity: exercise and enjoyment.

Exercise

The NHS recommends everybody to do at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week.

Considered as the “miracle” against disease, frequent exercise reduces the risk of these conditions by up to 50 percent:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer.

The NHS says: “Whatever your age, there’s strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life.”

There is “overwhelming evidence” of the positive health benefits of exercise, which is why everybody should do it.

Passion

A research paper published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) highlighted the relationship between job satisfaction and health.

The authors noted that there are a “vast number of published studies” showing a positive correlation between increased job satisfaction and better health.

Such results were based on a meta-analysis of 485 research studies sampling 267,995 people.

On Saturday, September 30, watch Smokey Robinson Live in Hyde Park on BBC Two at 10pm.
