Despite the show’s premise being one of bringing two people together in the hope of ultimate matrimony, Married At First Sight seems only to steamroll any ideas of romance in today’s modern world. For anyone bemoaning the state of single-hood in the year 2021, you need only look at the people on this reality show to sink deeper into the recesses of the couch and swear off dating forever. “Might as well join a convent,” is the standard response after watching just a few minutes of the show, where couples who are seemingly paired together by ‘experts’ instead engage in the manipulative behaviour of gaslighting, alienation, and show little regard for the emotions of the other. And as far as Bryce and Melissa are concerned, the couple seem to have ticked all the boxes as far as toxic relationships go.
Audiences watched stunned as Bryce continued to alienate Melissa from the larger MAFS group of contestants. And while Melissa took the approach of standing by her fella for the duration of the show, you have to wonder why she did when Bryce was continually sidelined with rumours of having a girlfriend outside of the show. Nevertheless, somehow in a season that saw numerous couples break it off within a matter of days, Bryce and Melissa made it to the final commitment ceremony where they exchanged vows. Now, the question is: are they still together?

In a rather hard to swallow shocking revelation, yes they are. The pair recently took to social media to share an update on their relationship, insisting that they are still together. Sharing a photo from the final commitment ceremony, Bryce wrote: “We know people don’t agree with how our relationship appears to be from the outside. We have proven you can be happy with someone when others negatively judge our relationship from afar without knowing the home truths. People are always going to have opinions as we do in our own relationship. In the end, @mafs shows everyone that love silences all [love heart emoji].”

Well, there you have it. Bryce and Melissa are still together and honestly, what even is romance anymore? In all fairness, if they are happy that’s all that matters. Perhaps we’ll just have to chalk it up to bad editing and staged drama for prime time entertainment.
