The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a notice concerning 25 batches of Irbesartan-containing products. The drug, typically used to treat high blood pressure, can also be used among some kidney patients. Health professionals have issued a notice to pharmacies and wholesalers so patients do not need to check their medications. Doctor Alison Cave, MHRA chief safety officer, said: “Patient safety is at the heart of what we do. We’re recalling batches of certain Irbesartan containing products as precautionary measures while we continue our investigation.”
