Carrie Underwood fully supports whatever career path her young son wants to embark on.
While appearing virtually as a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday, the 37-year-old singer opened up to host Drew Barrymore about her son, Isaiah Michael, 5, and his singing capabilities after the youngster appeared on Underwood's recently released Christmas album, My Gift.
Describing that having Isaiah on the album was something she wanted to do, Underwood detailed to Barrymore, 45, that she will fully support him if he similarly chooses to become a singer like his famous mother.
"You can kind of tell when someone has pitch. He can sing along with me and you can tell what song he's singing if he's just singing on his own, because he's singing the correct notes," she said. "He's almost 6 but he is just a little guy. So I don't know if he'll have that or have that passion at all."
Underwood added: "We're supportive of whatever he wants to do, but he definitely has pitch so I figured him coming in and singing, we could make it to where [we] could use the best parts of whatever he did and make it good."
On Underwood's first-ever Christmas album, My Gift — which she released in October — Isaiah makes his singing debut on "Little Drummer Boy."
"I got to listen to his vocals [get] put together and then listening to myself with him," Underwood told PEOPLE of the recording process in December. "I was laughing, and I was crying, and it was just very overwhelming in a good way. It's just very emotional."

Underwood also has plans to release a gospel album later this year, titled My Savior, and recently detailed to PEOPLE that although she loved having Isaiah on the Christmas record, he will not be making an appearance on the forthcoming LP, which is scheduled to be released around Easter.
"He did not get back into the recording booth for this album," she shared with a laugh. "We got to ease our way in. He's gonna think he's a special singer before it's too long I'm sure."
During her time on The Drew Barrymore Show, Underwood continued to speak candidly of her special little guy and revealed some more behind the scenes details of recording "Little Drummer Boy" with Isaiah.
Revealing that "most of it was from one take," the former American Idol winner called the feat "impressive" and said that it is a memory she will cherish forever.
"I've told everybody, I was like, I don't know how cooperative he's gonna be, I don't know if he's gonna walk in there, do it once and be like 'I don't want to do this anymore,' but if nothing else I have this moment," she said. "I have this day he got to come to work with me and see what I do."
"And it was such a magical experience in the studio," Underwood continued. "But then having that moment ingrained forever in a musical form — his little voice — he already pronounces his rums. Like, just from that point to this point, he doesn't say 'pauampompompom' anymore. He says 'parapampampam.'"
She added: "That was such a fleeting moment, it's not there anymore and I have that forever."
